Chalet Angels

After 4 days straight of skiing, I decided to use the last 2 days of our trip to relax and catch up on reading/blogging/movie watching/napping. I am on vacation after all. After Sunday it’s back to housewife reality of cooking, cleaning, and dog walking.

One of the most enjoyable parts of our stay in Morzine has been our ‘chalet angels’. Our chalet company, Mountain Spaces, employs a young couple to cater our breakfast, dinner, and afternoon tea.

In addition to this service they also provide transport to and from the ski lifts, and they tidy up the place while we’re out hitting the slopes. And the meals they cook aren’t standard hotel food, but instead consist of decadent 3 course meals including pre-dinner appetizers, cocktails, and free flowing wine.

We paid a pretty penny for these extras, but I’m all about convenience. It’s such a relief to come home to a home cooked meal after a tiring day on the mountain, not to mention the fact that they also do our dishes for us.
Fresh fruit and croissants
Our 'angels' had Wednesday night off, so they booked us a reservation at a local fondue joint. Apparently, this region is where the melted cheese dish originated.
The chalet also came stocked with movies and board games, which have helped to entertain us at night and during days ‘off’.
I also brought my Mahjong set, which has got a bit of use as well.
All in all it’s been a successful, low maintenance trip complete with beautiful scenery and quality time with amazing friends.
We head home bright and early tomorrow morning, where Aberdeen will greet us with freezing and snowy conditions. And a house that needs cleaning. And food that needs cooking. I’m really going to miss our chalet angels…
